She taught Folklorico dancing in Eloy and Casa Grande and made piñatas. A memorial service will be held Friday Nov. 10 @ 10am at the Fountains of Living Water Church (518 E. 2nd st. Casa Grande, AZ.) with Pastor Josue Ibarra officiating. Betty Jean Ludwig Whitten

Betty Jean "BJ" Whitten, 94, passed away peacefully at Cactus Peaks Assisted Living Home in Casa Grande on October 22, 2017. BJ was born January 29, 1923 in Leechburg, PA. After her Father's death, her newly widowed mother, Mabel Day Ludwig, with her 2 daughters BJ and Rosalie, moved to Casa Grande in 1929. They lived with Mabel's family who owned and operated the San Carlos Hotel. BJ attended Casa Grande schools, graduating from CG high school in 1940. She then attended the University of Arizona. Kathy Simon Wilson passed away on October 14, 2017. She was 48. She was born March 3, 1969. She moved to Arizona in 1981 and graduated from CHUHS. She lived in Reno, Nevada until February 2017 when she moved to Arizona City. She married Timothy on January 27, 2017. She is survived by her husband Timothy Wilson. Murel Loyd McWhirter, 82, passed away on October 5, 2017 in Maricopa, AZ. Murel served in the U.S. Navy as Head Torpedo-man for 9 years. He was a true outdoors man and a cowboy at heart. This was evidenced by his work and many of his hobbies. He loved horses, cattle, ranching and was an avid fisherman and gardener. She met her husband Russell in Fredonia and they were married in Niagara Falls in 1944. She worked for many years as a medical secretary. Carol loved to read. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Shearman and Janet Krause White, both of Casa Grande, AZ.; Sons, Russell of Glens Falls, NY., Warren of Vail, AZ. and Howard of Kennesaw, GA.; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
