Barbara Jean Pewo

To everything there is a season, a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to keep and a time to cast away.

We are gathered here today in the memory of our mother, Barbara Pewo, so that together we may acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that her life was to us, and the pain that her passing brings. In sharing the joy and the pain together today, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy.

Barbara was just 67 when she walked up the stairway to heaven, suddenly and unexpectedly on July 22nd, 2017. We say see you later because we know that someday we will be together again. Mom was the first born of Lucas and Isabel Francisco in Sacaton, Arizona named Barbara Jean Francisco on April 12th, 1950. Her earliest memories are with her grandparents at Nester Farms, just south of Pisinemo Village on the Tohono O'odham reservation. Then she remembers growing up on the farms of Marana and Maricopa. From there she moved to Phoenix where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School. During that time Barb also participated in Rev. Joedd Miller's youth ministry where she met her first husband Alvis Robertson with whom she had Norma and Andrea Robertson. Next she furthered her education at Phoenix College where she attended classes in the field of child development. Barbara then married Curtiss Pewo in 1977 and recently celebrated their 40th anniversary on July 1st. Unconditional love united families with Norma, Audie, Crystal, Heather, Corbin, Curtiss Jr., and Robert.

She is preceded in death by her first daughter Norma and is survived by her mother; Isabel Francisco, brothers; Dan, Elliot, Jim, Mark, sisters; Grace, Pat, Annette, husband; Curtiss and children; Audie, Crystal, Heather, Corbin, Tudor and Bobby.
