Amalia Chavez (Apalateque) 101, of Casa Grande, AZ died on October 29, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.
Amalia was born September 26, 1915 in Tucson, AZ. To Geronima and Miguel Apalateque. Throughout her life she worked at Flo’s restaurant along with a local favorite, Ochoa’s. She also spent some time working in the area fields. Amalia lived the remainder of her life with her family. She had a passion for cooking and dancing and loved to help others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Rosalio Chavez; Daughter, Lupita Olivio; Son, Arturo Olivio; Brother, Antonio Apalateque; Sisters, Carmen Leon and Alicia Martinez.
She is survived by her daughter Rosie Sanchez; 5 grandchildren, Connie Magallanes, John Williams, Martin Williams, and Sonia Williams; 6 great grandchildren, Marcus Smith, Angelica Smith, Abrielle Williams, Aries Williams, Martin Williams Jr. and Marcos Mendez Jr.; 1 great-great grandchild, Adriana Geronima Smith.
A memorial service is to be held Sat Nov. 12th, 2016 at 6:00pm at the Blackwater Community Building in Coolidge, AZ.
