Nita Fay Fry

Nita Fay Fry passed away unexpectedly on October 17, 2019 in Arizona City, AZ. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Lannie Fry; daughters Tammy Ryan and Cindy (Ken) Swinarski; granddaughter Alexandria (Luke) Ellsworth; brothers Floyd Stapish, Bill (Patti) Stapish, and Ron Stapish and several nieces and nephews.

Nita was born in Long Beach, CA to George and Margie (Simpson) Stapish on August 13, 1946. Her family moved to Westcreek, CO soon thereafter to join other family members. As a youngster, she attended a one room schoolhouse next door to where they lived and spent lots of time with her grandparents just down the road, her brothers Floyd and Bill, and cousins Edith and Sharon. She attended high school in Woodland Park, CO. She married Vic Hines and had two daughters, Tammy and Cindy.

In 1975 she married the love of her life, Lannie Fry. They began their life together in Woodland Park and she worked hard alongside Lannie in the businesses they owned, Fry Construction, Horsecreek Cafe Campground and Saloon and Pikes Peak Auto Body.

Staying near to her roots, Nita and Lannie made their home for the last 35 years in Westcreek. There she enjoyed gardening, creating and crafting. Her grandaughter, Alexandria, was born in 1998 and a new joy was found. She was a very involved grandma and supported everything Alex was involved in. She also cherished being a "grand-dog-ma" to her many four-legged grandkids.

Nita and Lannie then became snowbirds, spending more and more time in Arizona, eventually purchasing a second home in Arizona City. This is where she learned to love the game of golf. She was an active member of the community, volunteering for many non-profit fundraising events throughout the years.

Nita was a creative woman whose happy place was cooking and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, camping, playing golf and working on projects with Lannie. Decorating was her forte, making everything she touched special. Her zest for life, love for her family, and free spirit will hold her close in our hearts forever.

A Colorado Celebration of Life with Potluck will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Veterans Hall VFW, 27601 State Hwy 67, Woodland Park, CO 80863.
