Clayton Rex Waldo


Clayton Rex Waldo was born in Portland, OR on November 5, 1948 and died in Casa Grande, AZ on December 21, 2019 of cardiovascular disease at the age of 71.

Clayton had been a paraplegic since age 18. He did not view himself as handicapped or disabled and as a result, he spent his life overriding that label. He had an optimistic survival mentality, was very artistic and creative, loved working with his hands, including car repair, wood working and scenery painting. Any request from family and friends would become his focus in line with his love of helping others.

Earlier in his life he enjoyed participating in wheelchair basketball both in Portland, OR and Tucson, AZ with the Wild Chairs team. He loved watching NBA basketball-The Portland Trailblazers and the Phoenix Suns being his favorites. He will Be missed by family and friends as well as "casual acquaintances" he regularly interacted with in his community.

He is survived by his sisters Luella Loutzenheiser of Casa Grande, Lois Merz of British Columbia, Canada, Marilyn Justice, Pearl Lucero and Vera Williams of California, Katherine Johnson of Washington, Virginia Waldo and Esther Parks of Oregon; Brothers Ken Waldo, Lee Waldo and Paul Waldo of Oregon.

There will be services at a later date in Portland, OR.
