Gene Wehe, of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born in Loyal, Wisconsin on September 28, 1941 to Eugene and Alice (Schmidtke) Wehe, and grew up working alongside his many brothers and sisters on the family farm. He served four years in the United States Air Force, where he was an air traffic controller and a paratrooper. On June 6, 1964, Gene married Carol Richter and they started their family. He worked at various airports throughout his career, from Kotzebue to Juneau, where he took an early retirement in the spring of 1994. Gene had a passion for flying. He always had a plane while living in Alaska and he loved giving rides to family and friends. After retirement, Gene and Carol began living the RV lifestyle. They spent much of the next 25 years traveling around the country, including annual treks to North Dakota where Gene enjoyed summer work on the farm with his brother-in-law and nephew.
