Vicente Ortiz Rijos

April 27, 1932- September 10, 2023

It is with the deepest sorrow and heavy hearts, the Rijos Family announces the death of Vicente Ortiz Rijos. He was 91. Vicente was from Puerto Rico. He passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023, at his home in Eloy, Arizona with his loving family by his side.

He moved from Puerto Rico to the United States, where he met his wife of 37 years, Maria. Vicente was the keystone to the family, helped raise children and grandchildren, exemplifying the true meaning of a loving father-figure.

Vicente was known for his authentic Puerto Rican cooking, in particular for his arroz con gandules and carnitas. These were a family and friends favorite, that no one could match. This became a staple of every get together and special occasion, where Vicente loved entertaining and being surrounded by family and friends. Vincente loved music, dancing, playing dominoes and keeping everyone smiling and laughing, from his storytelling and jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Rijos, and their children, Maria Sanchez, Victoria Juarez, Clemente Lara, and Elvira Santos; 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

There will be a private celebration of his life.
