Donald Dean Peterson

October 1951 – June 2025

Wenden, Arizona

Donald Dean Peterson, age 73, of Wenden, Arizona, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love.

His three children survive Don: Samantha Peterson of Arizona, Dane Peterson of California, and Kristian Peterson of Hawaii. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathryn Prince, Laurel Scilex, and David Peterson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Don honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. An adventurer at heart, he found his greatest peace on the water—whether riding waves or casting a fishing line. Don was a passionate and accomplished fisherman, earning recognition as a professional bass fisherman with many wins to his name.

He passed on his love of surfing and custom board shaping to his children, a legacy of craftsmanship that lives on, especially through his son Dane. He and Dane also shared a deep bond over collecting baseball cards—one of Don’s many beloved hobbies. Don had a love for cars, boats, and anything with a motor, which sparked special memories and future plans with his daughter Samantha, including rebuilding a classic Corvette together. Don was also a devoted music lover. Blues and classic rock flowed through his days, and he shared this passion with his son Kristian. One of their favorite songs together was Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along the Watchtower.”

His loyal dogs, Lola and Indy, were never far from his side. They will deeply miss his kind touch, warm voice, and generous treats.

Known for his sharp wit and quick sense of humor, Don possessed a gift for storytelling and engaging in heartfelt conversations. He lit up every room he entered and had a way of making people feel truly seen and valued.

Don will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
