Charles Thomas Sapienza, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2026 at the age of 82. He was born in Lawrence, MA on October 23, 1943. As a young man, Charlie served in the Army National Guard. He went on to work as an electrical engineer for Western Electric in North Andover (later AT&T, then Lucent) for many years, eventually retiring there.
Charlie will be remembered for his unwavering faith and commitment to the church as well as his enjoyment of ham radio and solid state electronics. He collected antiques, with a particular interest in vintage radios and phones, which he restored to working condition. Charlie loved to see new palces, traveling extensively through the US on many cross country trips.
Charlie is survived by Donna, his wife of 7 years; his brother Raymond (Carey) Sapienza and his 3 children Michael (Claudia) Sapienza, Rebecca (Natalie Mast) Sapienza, and Leigh-Anne (Christopher Lara) Sapienza as well as his 6 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Heaven"s View Baptist Church, 12945 S. San Simon Rd., Arizona City, AZ on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Noon. This summer a memorial service will be held in New England-the place that Charlie called home for most of his life. Details to follow.
