Brenda C. Shank


Brenda C. Shank passed away July 7, 2018 in Casa Grande. She was 71. She was born on August 30, 1946 in Winamac, IN but was raised in Star City, IN. She ran a home daycare. She was Director of Religious Education at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, IN and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rochester, IN. She was co-owner of Shanks Ladies Store in Winamac. She retired with her husband to Casa Grande. She was a charter member of The Catholic Daughters of America, St Anthony's Court #2651. While in Casa Grande she founded Brenda'a Backpacks. They distributed through St. Vincent de Paul to help the homeless and will be continued by the Catholic Daughters. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 49 years Nicholas R. Shank. Children Paige Shank, Nicholas R. Shank Jr. (Judy), Cindy Clark (Steve), and Samuel Shank (Yolanda) and brother Herb Hiatt (Sandy).

She is proceeded in death by her parents Neal and Bonnie Hiatt. a brother Dale Hiatt, and daughter Heather Shank. Also by her first husband Randy Nightingale, who was lost in the Vietnam War.

There will be a service at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Monday July 16, 2018. Visitation is at 3pm, Rosary at 3:30 and Mass at 4:00. There will be a reception immediately following at St. Anthony's Community Center. There will be a celebration of life at the Church of the Heartland in Winamac on July 28, 2018.
