Gariel Joe Garner
October 21, 1942 - April 17, 2023
Gariel Joe Garner of Eloy, Arizona passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on
April 17, 2023 at the age of 80.
Joe was born in a car on the way to the hospital in Clark County, Arkansas. At a
young age, he moved with his parents to California, and graduated high school in
Richmond, CA. He served in the Army National Guard before beginning his 30+
year career with Allstate Insurance. Joe lived in Utah, Colorado, Illinois, and
California as a trainer, regional manager, and Director of Sales and Events with
Allstate. Following his work in the insurance industry, Joe partnered with his
brother in property development at Lake Tahoe, CA. At one point, he and his wife
Laurie owned and operated a fine antique shop. When he retired, Joe moved to
Arizona where his experience and insight were much appreciated on various HOA
committees. He also took an active part in the local Republican Party.
Joe relished life and lived generously with his friends and loved ones. He had a lot
of knowledge and appreciated quality. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports
teams – U of A, Suns, and Cardinals (and even OSU, eventually). He liked playing
cards and other games, sharing special meals out, and eating ice cream! He was a
kind, generous, and thoughtful man with a quirky sense of humor. His welcoming
hospitality and words of appreciation and praise, made the people around him feel
loved and valued. Even his last breaths were spent encouraging others and telling
everyone who came into his room that his beloved wife, Terri, was “a good wife, a
good mother, and a good woman.” He will be greatly missed by so many people.
Although Joe loved and enjoyed his life, his relationship with God through Jesus
gave him peace and assurance of an even better future in Heaven. He was a
member of Crossroads Church of Casa Grande where he was baptized last year and
served in the food giveaway ministry and as a greeter.
He is survived by his precious bride of two years, Therese (Terri), his brother,
Dariel, two sons, Troy and Greg, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his beloved wife of many years, Laurie.
A memorial service for Joe is scheduled at Crossroads Church of Casa Grande
(2024 E Florence Blvd., Casa Grande, AZ 85122) on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 9
a.m.
